Dr Simon Gatehouse is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in Adult and Paediatric Spinal Surgery.

Dr Gatehouse was educated through the University of Queensland and completed his training as an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Queensland. Post surgical fellowship training was then furthered in the United Kingdom through the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

He has successfully completed a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery in both the adult and paediatric spine. Research during this period was completed through the Freeman Hospital NHS and the The Muscle Centre, Institute of Human Genetics in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Dr Gatehouse is a member of the Spine Society of Australia, and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He has published several peer reviewed articles on spinal surgery. He attends and presents regularly at local and international meetings.

Paediatric Spine
Dr Gatehouse has an interest in paediatric scoliosis surgery. He treats all type of scoliosis and other paediatric spinal conditions with both non operative and surgical methods. Dr Gatehouse has a Public Hospital Appointment at the Mater Children's Hospital.

Adult Spine
Dr Gatehouse’s adult practice covers all areas of spinal disorders including a special interest in keyhole or minimally invasive disc surgery in the lumbar and cervical spine.

He also has a special interest in spinal tumour surgery and will see all acute spinal conditions including fractures, dislocations and acute lumbar and cervical disc herniations. All efforts are made to see such acute conditions in a timely fashion.

Dr Gatehouse has an adult Public Hospital Appointment through the Princess Alexandra Hospital and an affiliation with the Spinal Injuries Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
